Durch Serien wie "Boston Legal" oder "Star Trek" müsste William "Bill" Shatner einigen bekannt sein. Doch wer seine Stimme bisher noch nicht wahrgenommen hat, dem sei dieses kurzweilige und humorvolle Hörbuch sehr ans Herz gelegt.

Wer Shatner bereits als Person und Schauspieler schätzt, wird seine Art das eigens Geschriebene uns zu erzählen, mindestens genauso schätzen. Denn seine Sprechweise und Betonung ist weder eintönig noch einschläfernd, sondern vielmehr lebendig und sympathisch bodenständig. Die Audioqualität ist einwandfrei und mit guten Englischkenntnissen lässt sich das Gesagte ohne Probleme verstehen.

Ich empfinde dieses Hörbuch als eine schöne Gelegenheit, dank der Hintergründe sowie den mal ernsthaften und mal irrsinnigen Regeln, einerseits etwas über den "Menschen" Shatner zu erfahren und seinen bisherigen Werdegang besser kennen zu lernen und andererseits mit viel Unterhaltung und Ironie ein paar neue Ideen wie auch Blickwinkel auf das Leben einzufangen.

Am Ende hätte man gern noch länger zu gehört, aber auch mit nur viereinhalb Stunden ist das Hörbuch gut "abgerundet" und daher sehr zu empfehlen.

book provides a wide range of study material within classical frames (from Socrates to Nietzsche), but extremely good researched, very accessible both written and spoken.

excellent! RossŽ personal history of listening to music (childhood and youth: listening to classical music, late dedication to popular music) perfectly balanced with a broader and often surprising view on music. this balance together with his pleasant voice and pointed style of writing provide a feeling of easy-listening while you are digging into the most different examples of music. In comparison to "The rest is noise" the book appears less systematic, since examples might be mentioned more according to the succession of his personal interests, but yet in my eyes this personalized guidance through the book makes it highly accessible for whomever is interested in music or wants to become it.
